Karen Elkin portrays the host Valérie Babineau in the second season of the comedy show The Newbies. She played the character of sergeant-detective Valdez in the television success Fugueuse. She also acted the part of Monlam, the Buddhist monk in the TV series Unité 9. Her TV credits include, notably, Lucie Rainville in 30 Vies, a role that earned her a Prix Gémeaux nomination as ‘’best supporting actress’’, Anne-Sophie Laverdière in the excellent Série Noire, Emily Lewis in the wildly popular comedy Rumeur as well as the ‘’control freak’’ character in François en Série. On the big screen, we’ve seen her in the feature films Horloge biologique by Ricardo Trogi and L’Âge des ténèbres by Denys Arcand. We will soon see the actress in the new Denis Boivin movie, Le sang du pélican, in which she lends her features to Marie de l’Incarnation. Karen participated in numerous short films, including Screen Test: Karen Elkin that she co-wrote and for which she won the mention ‘’Best short film’’ during the Rendez-vous du cinema Québécois 2007. For this piece, Karen was the recipient of the ‘’ Best Interpretation’’ price at Prends ça court! The actress also lends her voice to many radio and television publicity campaigns both in French and English.
